The 2025 LIIP Basketball Tournament officially tipped off on April 11, 2025, with a vibrant opening ceremony that set the court for an exciting season of competition. Held at LIIP Sports Center – Basketball Court, the event brought together teams, supporters and basketball enthusiasts for a day of celebration and camaraderie.

The festivities began with a parade of all participating teams, marching proudly through the park in their colorful team uniforms. This symbolic procession showcased the unity and sportsmanship that defined the tournament, as players and beautiful muses waved to the cheering crowd.

Following the parade, the official opening program commenced, featuring the introduction of all competing teams. Each team was presented to the audience, highlighting their dedication and enthusiasm for the tournament. Their presence not only celebrated the spirit of unity but also reinforced the sense of pride and identity within each team.

Adding elegance and a touch of glamour to the event, the eleven (11) muses from each joining company graced the walk ramp with confidence and poise, captivating the audience with their charm. The prestigious title of Best Muse was awarded to Ms. Maxine Buena the stunning representative from Optodev, Inc., while Juntec Corporation earned recognition for Best Uniform, displaying a striking and cohesive team ensemble.

The Eleven (11) teams—Diup Inc., Draka Philippines Inc., Gardenia Bakeries (Philippines) Inc., Juntec Corporation, LIIP Admin Office, Luxuriant Philmarketing Inc., Maccaferri Philippines Manufacturing Inc., Optodev Inc., PMR Pallet Ltd. Co., Terrafirma Motors Corporation and Universal Robina Corporation—clashed in a passionately competitive elimination round, each striving to secure a place in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

As the tournament progressed, the top four teams in each bracket advanced to the quarterfinals, where the intensity reached new heights. Every game was a test of strategy and endurance, with players leaving everything on the court in pursuit of victory for their teams.

Following the quarterfinals, the tournament swiftly moved into the semifinals, where the remaining contenders battled in high-stakes matchups. The excitement reached its peak on May 22, 2025, with Game 1 of the championship battle, marking the beginning of the final showdown. The journey to the championship concluded on May 30, 2025, with Luxuriant Philmarketing Inc. secured a back-to-back title as “CHAMPION”, solidified their dominance in the tournament.

Optodev, Inc. made an impressive mark in the 2025 LIIP Basketball Tournament and locked in the first runner-up position. As a new entrant, the team showcased exceptional skill and determination, proving themselves as formidable challengers on the court.

Gardenia Bakeries (Philippines), Inc. secured the second runner-up position after a hard-fought victory against Juntec Corporation who obtained the third runner-up spot on May 26, 2025. Conveying competence and dedication, both teams battled fiercely to claim their respective spots.

Moreover, an award was presented to honor the outstanding talent and commitment of the top players from each team by awarding the Mythical Five. This recognition was given to the five standout players namely Mr. Adrian Losa (Optodev, Inc.), Mr. Ryan Ferrer (Juntec Corporation), Mr. Jason Galvan (Gardenia Bakeries (Philippines), Inc.), Mr. Marko Rivera (Luxuriant Philmarketing Inc.) and Mr. Michael Dela Vega (Luxuriant Philmarketing Inc.) who demonstrated leadership and skill throughout the tournament. Each recipient of the Mythical Five Award showcased remarkable gameplay, contributing significantly to their team’s success.

Among them, the Most Valuable Player title rightfully given to Mr. Michael Dela Vega (Luxuriant Philmarketing Inc.). His remarkable skills extend beyond impressive statistics, as he has consistently demonstrated perseverance in overcoming challenges and leading with unwavering confidence. His performance on the court has been exceptional, marked by game-changing plays, tactical brilliance and relentless determination.

In every tournament, sportsmanship remains a cornerstone of true athletic excellence. Whether in victory or defeat, maintaining respect, integrity and camaraderie defines the spirit of the game. Recognizing this, the 2025 LIIP Basketball Tournament organizers proudly awarded the Team Sportsmanship Award once again to PMR Pallet Ltd. Co., celebrating their exemplary conduct throughout the tournament.

There were also outstanding individuals recognized for their exemplary conduct on and off the court, earning the esteemed Individual Sportsmanship Award. Among the distinguished recipients were Mr. Joseph Endona (Diup, Inc.), Mr. Joey Tutica (Draka Philippines, Inc.), Mr. Jason Galvan (Gardenia Bakeries (Philippines), Inc.), Mr. Greg Bitoy (Juntec Corporation), Mr. Orlando Yusores, Jr. (LIIP Admin. Office), Mr. Rowel Somo (Luxuriant Philmarketing Inc.), Mr. Jan Carlo Miranda (Maccaferri Philippines Manufacturing, Inc.), Mr. Jonathan Castillo (Optodev, Inc.), Mr. Jaime Gacusan (PMR Pallet Ltd. Co.), Mr. Brain Tumabiao (Terrafirma Motors Corporation) and Mr. Francis Mark Laderas (Universal Robina Corporation). These players proved consistent fair play, respect for opponents and game officials and a commitment to fostering a positive competitive environment throughout the tournament.
