The LIIP 2011 Basketball & Volleyball Inter-Company Tournament tipped off on October 14.

The enthusiastic participation of 26 LIIP companies turned the opening day into a festive event, starting with a motorcade that generated noise for the LIIP community.

LIIPAI President Mr. Simplicio P. Umali, Jr. inspired the participating athletes with a few stirring words from Olympic great, Jesse Owens. “It takes a great deal of love, fairness, and respect for your fellow man. Put all these together, and even if you don’t win, how can you lose?”

These choice words embodied the win-win spirit of the annual competition.

The festivities continued with entertainment numbers from Glades International Corporation, Patpatila Familia from PiPlay, Inc. and a rousing performance by the Cheering Squad of Optodev, Inc.

Another highlight of the opening program, the Parade of Muses and Parade of Athletes caught everyone’s attention. Team muses vied for attention and the award for Best Muse. Teams also competed for the title of Best Uniform.

Best Muse was awarded to Desco, Inc. and the Best Uniform award went to PowerServe, Inc.
